Inventory Planning
Inventory Planning is where you tell Logistified about the future. Your forecast learns from what you sold in the past, but some things it can’t see coming: a customer who has promised a big order, a product you haven’t launched yet, a sales goal for next season, or Black Friday. Inventory Planning lets you write those down, and the forecast and your reorder suggestions take them into account.
New Product Planning and Promotional Events come with the Enhanced plan. Inventory Commitments and Sales Plans need Elevate. See Plan requirements.

What Inventory Planning is
Section titled “What Inventory Planning is”A plan is a list of products with quantities and dates. You create it as a Draft, check it, and Confirm it when you’re sure. From then on it does its job: depending on its type, it adds expected demand to the forecast or shows a goal to measure your sales against. When it has played out, you Complete it. Every plan type shares the same statuses, described in Plan statuses & lifecycle.
Each plan gets a plan number: IC-… for an inventory commitment, SP-… for a sales plan, NP-… for a new product plan.
The three plan types
Section titled “The three plan types”| Inventory Commitments | Sales Plans | New Product Planning | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it’s for | Demand you expect on top of normal sales: a wholesale order, a contract, a promotion, a tender | A sales goal per product for a period, such as next season | A product you haven’t sold yet, forecast from the launch of similar products |
| Feeds the forecast? | Yes, while Confirmed or Locked | Never. Its targets are shown next to the forecast for comparison | Yes, while Confirmed or Locked and Feed into forecast is on |
| Locations | Each item has its own location, or none | One or more locations, each with its own targets | One or more launch locations, each with its own curve |
| Orders it can create | Purchase order, transfer order, Shopify draft order | None. Orders follow the forecast | Purchase order |
| Analytics | No | An Analytics tab: plan vs actual sales | An Analytics tab: plan vs actual sales |
| Plan needed | Elevate | Elevate | Enhanced or Elevate |
Details: Plans in the forecast explains exactly what each type does to your forecast, and Order stock for a plan explains how each type leads to orders.
Promotional Events
Section titled “Promotional Events”Promotional Events sit next to the three plan types but aren’t plans. A promotional event is a holiday or sale that comes back every year, such as Black Friday or Christmas. You give it an expected uplift, switch it on, and every forecast expects that much more demand on its dates. It has no statuses and no products to add. See Promotional events.
The hub
Section titled “The hub”Click Inventory Planning in the top navigation to open the hub.
- Four tiles: Inventory Commitments, New Product Planning, Sales Plans and Promotional Events. Each tile opens its list and shows how many are active. For the plan tiles, active means Draft, Confirmed or Locked. For Promotional Events, it means events that aren’t archived.
- Recent plans: below the tiles, the ten plans you changed most recently, of all three types. Each row shows a Type chip (IC, NP or SP), the plan number and name, a short Info line, the Status and when it was Updated. Click a row to open the plan. On a commitment the Info line counts items and ends with the target date (for a date range, its last day), for example “3 items · 120 est. units · Target Jul 1, 2026”. On a sales plan or launch plan it counts products instead, for example “1 product · 1 est. unit”.
- Search all plans…: type a name, plan number, SKU or product title to search every plan, whatever its type. The recent plans are replaced by the ten most recently changed plans that match, for as long as the box has text in it.
- View All Commitments, View All Launch Plans, View All Sales Plans: shortcuts to the three lists, next to the search.
Promotional events don’t appear in the recent plans or the hub search. Open them from their tile.
When your shop has no plans yet, the recent plans are replaced by four buttons: Create an Inventory Commitment, Create a Launch Plan, Create a Sales Plan and Add a Promotional Event.
Which plan should I use?
Section titled “Which plan should I use?”- A customer has told you about a large order before placing it, or you’ve signed a contract, won a tender or planned a promotion for specific products: use an inventory commitment. It adds the expected units to your forecast, so you reorder in time.
- You want to set a goal for how much each product should sell next season, and see whether you’re on track: use a sales plan. It never changes the forecast, so it can’t make you overbuy.
- You’re launching a product with no sales history: use New Product Planning. It borrows the launch of similar products you already sell, so the new product gets a forecast from day one.
- The extra sales come back every year on the same holiday: use a promotional event instead of a new commitment each year.

Plan requirements
Section titled “Plan requirements”Which subscription plan you need depends on the feature:
| Feature | Plan |
|---|---|
| New Product Planning (launch plans) | EnhancedEnhanced planThe middle subscription tier. Adds Notifications, Reports, Cloud Platform, and the Holt / Seasonal / Double-seasonal forecast models. Read more → or ElevateElevate planThe top subscription tier. Adds Return Orders (RMAs), Constraint Studio, and the PO Constraint Optimizer. Read more → |
| Promotional Events | Enhanced or Elevate |
| Inventory Commitments | Elevate |
| Sales Plans | Elevate |
| Inventory Planning settings | Every plan |
On the hub, a tile your plan doesn’t include shows the plan it needs: Enhanced or Elevate. The tile still opens its list.
If your plan doesn’t include a feature, for example after a downgrade:
- You can still open and review its plans or events. Plans also open from Recent plans and Search all plans… on the hub.
- You can’t create, edit or delete them, or change a plan’s status. Create buttons are greyed out; pointing at one says, for example, “New Product Planning is available on the Enhanced Plan”. A plan’s status buttons are hidden, and a banner names the plan you need (“Sales Plans is part of the Elevate Plan and isn’t available on lower plans”), says what stays locked and links to Upgrade plan.
- You can still export and download plans. Attaching the printout to the plan’s documents needs the feature’s plan.
- The forecast leaves them out. Commitments feed the forecast only on Elevate. Launch plans feed it, and promotional events lift it, only on Enhanced or Elevate. Sales plans never change the forecast, and their targets in the Supply view need Elevate.
Nothing is deleted. Once you upgrade, your plans and events work as before, in the forecast too. See Subscription plans.
