Enhanced plan
  • Enhanced plan.
  • Your own email, so you can test before adding the rest of the team.
  • Optionally, a saved Forecast View covering the variants you care about (see Forecast → Views & filters). A view is only required for the days-from-reorder trigger.
  1. Open Notifications in the sidebar, then click the Stock notifications card.
  2. Click New rule, give it a Rule name (“Low stock — bestsellers”), and click Create & configure.
  3. On the General tab, choose a Scope. Leave it on Global (shop-wide inventory) for your first rule. Optionally pick a Forecast view to narrow what the rule watches — or leave it on No view — all variants.
  4. On the Triggers tab, leave Monitoring scope on Monitor all variants. Switch on at least one trigger and set its value (for example Stock threshold = 30, or Stock-out alert = on).
  5. On the Recipients tab, tick yourself. If you’re not in the list, click Add recipient and create yourself without leaving the page.
  6. (Optional) Open the Preview tab to see what the email will look like.
  7. Turn on Enable this rule at the top of the page, then press Save.
  8. Click Send test email, pick a real variant, and confirm. A [Test] email should arrive within seconds — proof that delivery works.
  9. Now change a variant’s inventory in Shopify so it deliberately crosses your trigger. The real alert should arrive within seconds.

Get an email the moment any variant drops to or below its own minimum at the warehouse it happened in.

  • General → Scope: Per location (inventory at each location).
  • General → Forecast view: leave on No view — all variants, then pick your warehouses in the Locations picker.
  • Triggers → Variant constants: on, with Below minimum inventory ticked.
  • Recipients: the warehouse manager and yourself.
  • Top of page: Enable this rule = on, then Save.

The minimums come from each variant’s constants — see Forecast → Variant constants. Variants without a minimum simply never alert on it, so you can fill them in gradually.

No email arrives after a stock changeThe rule is disabled, no trigger is enabled, or no recipients are ticked.Re-check the Enable this rule switch, the Triggers tab, and the Recipients tab.
The test email arrives but real alerts don’tThe variant’s inventory didn’t actually cross the trigger this time — it was already below it.Triggers fire on a crossing: from above the threshold to at-or-below. Push stock back up and then down again.
No email even with everything enabledThe rule has a Forecast view that excludes the variant, or is per-location with a location list that excludes where the change happened.Widen the view, clear it, or add the location.
Days-from-reorder trigger can’t be switched onNo Forecast view is selected — it’s the one trigger that needs one.Pick a view on the General tab.
Days-from-reorder trigger never firesThe forecast hasn’t computed that variant yet, or the projected days are zero or negative.Wait for the forecast to catch up, or confirm the variant has order history.
Variant-constant triggers are greyed outThe rule’s scope is Global.Switch the scope to Per location on the General tab.
A constant trigger never fires for one variantThat variant has no value saved for that boundary.Fill it in under Variant constants.
Wrong people getting alertsThey’re ticked on that rule’s Recipients tab.Untick them there, or delete them in Settings → Recipients to remove them everywhere at once.
Too many alertsThe rule is too broad.Switch Monitoring scope to Monitor only specific variants and list just the items you care about, or narrow the view or location list. Days-from-reorder won’t repeat for the same variant within 24 hours regardless.
