Plan analytics
The Analytics tab of a New Product Planning plan and of a Sales Plan compares what you planned with what you actually sold. A Sales Plan can show revenue as well as units.
New Product Planning comes with the Enhanced plan. Sales Plans need Elevate. See Plan requirements.

Choose products and a location
Section titled “Choose products and a location”Two controls decide what every card on the tab shows.
Location. Use the location switcher at the top of the plan. Pick All locations for the whole plan, or a single location. On New Product Planning it reads All locations (summary). A plan with only one location has no switcher.
Variants. Use the Variants menu at the start of the tab’s toolbar. It starts on All variants, with the count in brackets. Once you pick, it reads, for example, 3 of 24, and None selected after Clear. You can tick a whole product, or single variants across several products. Search by product title, variant title, or SKU.
- All variants and Clear sit at the bottom of the menu.
- While you search, they become Select N matching and Clear N matching.
Some variants are greyed out, with the reason next to them:
| Reason | What it means |
|---|---|
| Not planned at location | The variant isn’t planned at the location you picked. |
| No curve yet | New Product Planning only. The variant has no launch curve yet, so there is nothing to compare. |
With All variants picked, products you add to the plan later are included automatically.
Your selection stays while you switch tabs or locations. Reloading the page resets it to All variants.
The toolbar also has:
- Group by, which sets the columns of the planning matrix. It also sets the columns of the grid in the Plan tab, so the two always match. New Product Planning offers Week, Month, and Quarter, and starts on Week. Sales Plans add Year, and start on Month.
- Units | Revenue, on Sales Plans only. The Revenue tab names your currency, for example Revenue (EUR). It switches every card between units and money.
Plan vs. actual
Section titled “Plan vs. actual”The first card is titled Plan vs. actual plus what you picked, for example “Plan vs. actual: 3 of 24 variants at Berlin”. Hover the ⓘ icon next to any card title for a short explanation of what the card shows. It has five tiles:
| Tile | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Planned to date | What the plan expected up to and including today. |
| Actual to date | What has sold since the plan started. |
| Attainment | Actual to date as a percentage of planned to date. |
| Planned total | The whole plan, to its last day. |
| On track for | Where you’ll land if recent sales continue. See On track for. |
Attainment, here and on every other card, is colored the same way: green from 90%, amber from 70%, red below 70%.
The chart shows two running totals over the plan’s dates: Planned (cumulative) and Actual (cumulative). Only sales inside the plan’s dates count. Sales from before the plan started don’t. Until something sells, the chart says “No sales in the plan window yet for this selection.”
On track for
Section titled “On track for”The On track for tile answers: “if sales keep going like this, where do we end up?” It reads like ~90 of 180, with a line underneath such as “At 50% of plan over the last 9 days”.
How it’s worked out:
- Logistified compares sales with the plan over the last 14 full days. Today is left out because it isn’t over yet. A plan younger than 14 days uses the days it has.
- That pace is applied to the rest of the plan. The projection follows the plan’s own shape, not a straight line. If the plan has a peak still ahead, the projection has it too.
The chart draws the result as a dashed line, Projected (at recent pace). The figure is an estimate, so it is rounded and shown with a ”~”.
The tile shows ”-” instead, with the reason underneath, when:
- “The plan hasn’t started yet”
- “The plan has ended, so actual to date is final”
- “Too few sales so far to project”: fewer than 10 units sold (see The 10-unit rule)
- “No full day of sales yet to measure the pace”, or “No full week of sales yet to measure the pace” on a large plan (see Why a number may look different)
- “Nothing was planned in the last 14 days”
On a Sales Plan’s Revenue tab, the projection uses the revenue pace. It can therefore differ from the Units tab, for example when a product has a revenue override or no price.
Planning matrix
Section titled “Planning matrix”The Planning matrix sets your products against the calendar. The columns follow Group by. Each cell shows actual / target for that period, colored by attainment.
- The current period is marked to date. It compares sales so far with the target so far.
- Future periods show the target only.
- The Total column runs to date.
- The row pinned at the bottom adds up everything you picked. It reads All products, or Selected variants when you picked only some.
The Variants | Products tabs choose the rows:
- Variants (the default) shows one row per variant.
- Products shows one row per product, adding up the variants of that product you picked.
The total row is the same in both views.
Share by location or product
Section titled “Share by location or product”The share card, below the planning matrix, shows how your plan and your sales split, each as a percentage of its own total. Because it compares shares rather than totals, it’s useful mid-plan.
Say every location is behind plan. If Berlin was planned for 40% of the sales but has made only 25%, Berlin is falling behind faster than the others.
What the card splits by depends on what you picked:
| You picked | Card title |
|---|---|
| All locations, on a plan with several locations | Share by location (to date) |
| One location, or a plan with only one location | Share by product (to date) |
| One location, and what you picked there is a single product | Share by variant (to date) |
The planned share only counts what was planned up to today, the same cut-off as the sales. So a location that launches later shows 0% planned until its start date.
Dumbbell | Donuts
Section titled “Dumbbell | Donuts”Two tabs switch the chart. Both show the same numbers.
- Dumbbell (the default) shows one row per location or product. The hollow dot is the planned share and the filled dot is the actual share. The further apart the dots, the bigger the difference.
- Donuts shows a planned donut and an actual donut side by side.
With more than six entries, the chart keeps the five with the largest planned share. The rest are combined into one grey Other. The table below the chart still lists every entry and marks the combined ones In Other.
The table
Section titled “The table”The table is folded away so the card shows just the chart. Select Show table under the chart to open it, and Hide table to fold it again. It stays open while you switch locations.
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Planned / Actual | Units, or revenue, to date. |
| Planned share / Actual share | Each entry’s percentage of the column’s total. |
| Share gap | Actual share minus planned share, in percentage points (“+3 pts”, “−3 pts”). |
| Attainment | Actual as a percentage of planned, on the same green / amber / red scale. |
On All locations, this table is where you read each location’s attainment.
On All locations, a location’s row can carry a note:
- No curve yet on New Product Planning, or Nothing planned on Sales Plans: the location is part of the plan for these variants, but has nothing planned to compare yet.
- No sales history here (counts as zero): see Why a number may look different.
When the chart is replaced by a note
Section titled “When the chart is replaced by a note”These notes replace the whole chart:
| Note | Why |
|---|---|
| ”Nothing planned before today” | The plan hasn’t reached any planned sales yet. The table still shows actual sales. |
| ”Select more products or locations to compare shares” | There’s only one entry, so there’s nothing to compare. |
| ”No planned revenue before today: the selected variants have no price” | Revenue tab: the variants are planned, but they have no price. |
These replace only the actual side, and the planned side stays:
| Note | Why |
|---|---|
| ”Too few sales so far to compare shares (n units)“ | Fewer than 10 units sold. See The 10-unit rule. |
| ”No revenue recorded to date” | Revenue tab: nothing has sold with a price yet. |
Biggest gaps
Section titled “Biggest gaps”The Biggest gaps card, at the bottom of the tab, shows two small tables side by side: the five entries furthest Ahead of plan and the five furthest Behind plan, within what you picked. Each row shows the entry, its Gap and its % of plan. Hover the info icon next to the title for what the card counts.
- On All locations, each entry is one variant at one location.
- At one location, each entry is one variant.
The gap is actual to date minus planned to date: “+42 units”, “−35 units”, or an amount in your currency on the Revenue tab. Each entry also shows its attainment. A variant that sold without anything planned so far is listed as ahead, with ”-” for attainment.
Click a row to focus the whole tab on that variant. The location stays as it is, and the row you clicked stays highlighted until you change the selection. To go back, open the Variants menu and choose All variants.
Instead of the tables, you may see:
- “Biggest gaps need at least two variants or locations to compare.”
- “Nothing was planned before today, so there are no gaps yet.”
While fewer than 10 units have sold, the card’s title carries a small Early days tag: gaps get meaningful once sales come in.
Sales the plan doesn’t count
Section titled “Sales the plan doesn’t count”Each location in a plan counts only the sales of the variants planned there. A sale is credited to the location that fulfilled the order. All locations adds those up.
So if a variant sells at a location where it isn’t planned, that sale isn’t in the plan’s numbers. When this adds up to something worth knowing, a single line appears above the chart on All locations. A plan with only one location shows it on that location too. For example:
Berlin isn’t on this plan but sold 120 units of these variants since the plan started. Those sales aren’t counted here.
Hamburg sold 40 units of these variants where they aren’t planned (not counted here).
15 units of these variants were sold elsewhere or without a fulfilment location (not counted here).
A location is named only when it sold at least 10 units and at least 5% of everything those variants sold, counted or not. The line always counts units, also on the Revenue tab.
The line is only a hint. It doesn’t add anything to the plan or change any number. Use it to decide whether that location belongs in the plan. See Adding products to a plan.
Why a number may look different from what you expect
Section titled “Why a number may look different from what you expect”Analytics reads the saved plan. Edits in the Plan tab show up here only after you save. On a Sales Plan with unsaved changes, the tab says: “Analytics reads the saved plan. Your unsaved changes show here once you save them.”
“To date” follows UTC, not your shop’s timezone. The tab’s “today” changes at midnight UTC. In New York, for example, that is 8 pm in summer and 7 pm in winter. “Planned to date” already includes the whole of today, while today’s sales are still coming in. So early in the UTC day, attainment and On track for read a little low and catch up by the end of it.
“No location” counts sales at every location. Some older plans have products planned without a location. They appear as No location on the share card and on Biggest gaps, and they count that product’s sales at all your locations. On such a plan, All locations can be more than the sum of the individual locations. A variant planned both with and without a location shows the same sales in both places.
A location with no sales history counts as zero. If a product has sold in your shop but never at a planned location, its actual sales there are zero. Sales from other locations aren’t moved over. The tab says so in a message above the chart, for example “No sales history at Berlin for 1 product, so its actuals count as zero there (shop-wide sales are not used).”
Revenue comes from the price on the plan (Sales Plans). Planned revenue is the revenue you set for a product, or else its planned units × its price. Actual revenue is units sold × the price on the plan, not what customers paid, so discounts don’t show up. The card reminds you: “Revenue is derived from price.” When you typed revenue in for some products, it says so instead, for example “Planned revenue includes 2 overrides; actual revenue uses the product price.”
Large plans count by week. On a very large plan, the tab loads with “Loading a large plan. This can take a little while.” and the first card notes “Weekly totals: this plan is too large for daily detail.” The numbers are then added up per week, and On track for measures the pace over whole weeks.
A completed Sales Plan keeps updating. Completing a Sales Plan doesn’t freeze its numbers. If a late order lands inside the plan’s dates, the Analytics tab picks it up.
The 10-unit rule
Section titled “The 10-unit rule”With only a handful of sales, percentages swing wildly. Until what you picked has sold 10 units:
- the share card hides its actual side and shows “Too few sales so far to compare shares (n units)”,
- On track for shows ”-” with “Too few sales so far to project”,
- Biggest gaps carries an Early days tag next to its title.
The rule counts units, also on a Sales Plan’s Revenue tab.
When the tab has nothing to show
Section titled “When the tab has nothing to show”| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| ”No analytics yet” (New Product Planning) | Nothing to do yet. The tab fills in once the plan has a forecast and its products start selling. |
| ”No targets to analyze yet” (Sales Plans) | Seed the plan from history or set targets in the Plan tab. |
| ”Nothing planned at location yet” | Plan something at that location in the Plan tab, or pick another location. |
| ”No variants selected” | You cleared the Variants menu. Pick some variants. |
| ”None of the selected variants are in this plan any more” | The variants you picked were removed from the plan. Pick other variants. |
| ”None of the selected variants are planned at location” | Pick other variants or another location. |
| ”Nothing planned for the selected variants yet” | New Product Planning: the variants you picked have no launch curve yet. Pick other variants, or give them a curve in the Plan tab. |
| ”No products at location yet, so there is nothing to compare with actual sales.” (Sales Plans) | The products were removed at that location. Bring them back with Add missing products. |
| ”Couldn’t load plan vs. actual” | Click Retry. |
See your plans in the forecast
Section titled “See your plans in the forecast”Confirmed and Locked Sales Plans also appear in the forecast. In a Supply view, a chart above the table compares each period’s plan target with sales so far and the forecast, and each cell’s card shows how close that variant comes to its target. Each plan in the chart’s plan list links back to its Analytics tab.
This tab tells you how a plan has done so far. The forecast tells you whether the coming periods will reach it. The two can show different numbers; Why the chart and a plan’s Analytics tab can differ explains why.
